Add a supply (wax, ink, yarn, packaging)
Add anything you count or measure, with the right unit and cost, so your product costs come out right.
When you're done
Have a supply saved with its cost per unit and how much you have.
Before you start
- What you paid for the pack
- How much was in the pack (10 lb, 16 oz, 100 each)
- How much you have now

Open the form
Go to Inventory > Materials
Click Add material
A menu opens with three kinds of material.
Pick Supply
Use Supply for things you count or measure: wax, ink, yarn, beads, oils, resin, packaging. Use Blank for shirts and tumblers, and Vinyl or transfer for rolls and sheets.
Fill it in
Name it the way you'd say it
Include the size or color if you buy more than one, like "Soy wax (10 lb bag)".
Pick the unit you use in recipes
If your candle recipe says 0.5 pound of wax, pick pound. Pick each for things you count.
Enter how much you have and when to reorder
Qty on hand is what's on your shelf now. Reorder at is the amount that should warn you to buy more.
Enter the cost for one unit
Divide what you paid by how much was in the pack. See the example below.
Click Save Supply
Worked example: Working out the unit cost
You bought a 10 lb bag of soy wax for $24.00.
| What you paid | $24.00 |
| Pack size | 10 pound |
| Unit cost ($24.00 / 10) | $2.40 per pound |
| Your candle uses | 0.5 pound |
| Wax cost per candle | $1.20 |
Include shipping if you want your costs to be exact. $24.00 + $6.00 shipping = $30.00, so $3.00 per pound.
Questions
Do I have to add every supply?
No. Add what goes into the products you want to price. You can add more later.
What if I buy the same thing from two places?
Add it once and use the price you pay most often, or add two supplies if the quality differs.
