Step by step

Cost crochet and knit items by yarn, stuffing, notions, pattern, and hours. It uses the same supplies list, products, and orders as your other studios.

  1. Add each yarn on Supplies (by skein, or by yard if you track yardage), plus stuffing, safety eyes, and notions.

  2. Open the Calculators tab (Yarn Calculator, or Gauge & Sizing to turn a swatch into stitches, rows, and yardage) with the yardage from your pattern to see skeins to buy for an order and yarn cost per item. Every studio also has Team & Bulk Quote, Price Sheet, Capacity Planner, and Craft Fair Booth Planner.

  3. Track your hours: handmade time is usually the largest cost in fiber work, so add it as a labor line.

  4. On Products & Pricing, price a new product with the Crochet or Knitting method: yarn and notion supply lines, the pattern as a design/license line, and labor.

  5. Save the cost to make to see cost per item, suggested price, and margin on Products & Pricing.

  6. Plan an order from the product on Orders to Make. Your stock changes once, only when you choose Mark as made.

What happens next

Your product has a real cost and price, and your stock stays accurate as you make orders.
